Bass-N-Tubes 2002 US Open

The 2nd annual Bass-n-Tubes US Open was held at Clear Lake on May 18th and 19th out of State Park. A whopping 67 anglers hit the water hard for two days and when the dust settled, former SCBBBC club president Andy Parsons was Mr. Consistent, bringing in 15.53lbs for a hard earned win. Andy reported catching his fish on rattle traps, fat free shad crankbaits, and senkos. Andy worked hard in windy conditions and proved that you don't have to have a kickboat to do well in this club, beating out the field from his float tube. For his efforts Andy went home with a brand new Creek Company kickboat!

Mitch Teman was a close second with a two day total of 14.79lbs. Mitch focused on woody laydowns using a texas rig worm to catch all of his fish. On day 2 Mitch brought the biggest bass to the scales with a 4.91lb big fish. Mitch won a Kistler swimbait special for his 2nd place finish.

In 3rd place, on the strength of the overall big fish of the tournament was Rob Belloni. Rob caught his 7.92lber sight fishing with a brush hog. He only had two other fish, one on an Assalt jig and one on a 5" Big Hammer swimbait but it was enough to hang on to 3rd place. Rob earned a Mark Tyler special Kistler rod and a pair of Solar Bats from Bigfishtools.com for 3rd place and big fish of the tournament respectively.

The raffle was incredible, the camping was great, and even though the bite was a little tough, the event was a resounding success.
