Seventeen anglers made their way to Whiskey Slough in the California Delta on February 24th 2013 for the first B-n-T tournament of the season. The sun was shining, a cold wind blew, and the fishing was on the tough side for most everyone.
Only one limit made it's way to the scale and that lucky angler was Taylor Capilla. Taylor started his year off just the way he ended 2012, with the victory. Taylor used a wacky rigged Swamp Crawler and a Pro Senko, switching up to a shakey head and Smallie Beaver later in the day for five fish that weighed in at 8.43 pounds.
Whiskey Slough has always produced a hawg or two and Robert Middleton was the guy who brought one to the scale this time. Robert weighed in one fish that was good enough to earn second place and the big fish money with a fat 6.80 pounder.
In third place was Mitch Teman who brought three fish to the scale for 6.10 pounds. Mitch caught a couple early in the day on a drop shot, and flipped his third fish from a trash pocket in the tulles with a jig, in the afternoon.
Thanks to everyone who came out to start the year off with us, and congratulations to the top finishers.
We hope to see a crowd at Lake Berryessa on March 23rd!
