November 8th & 9th, 2014 - Lake Nacimiento - TOC
Bass-n-Tubes fished the TOC, where the year started, at Lake Nacimiento on November 8th & 9th. It was another perfect central California weekend with bright sunshine, temps in the low 80's, and very light breezes both days.
The twelve qualifiers kicked off at sunrise on Saturday into a lake that is at only 16% of it's capacity due to the drought, so it is fishing much smaller than everyone is used to. The fish didn't seem to mind as mostly limits came to the scale. As always, at Lake Nacimiento, the weights were close with just 0.64 pounds separating the top three after two days of fishing.
At the end of the weekend it was Daniel Balaba finishing the year with the TOC win. Daniel fished a jig and crankbait mainly for 10 fish and a total weight of 13.31 pounds. Daniel also had the day one and tournament big fish with a 1.82 pound Naci giant!
Jeff Wilson ended up in the second finishing position with 10 fish for a two day total of 12.96 pounds. This years third prize goes to the 2014 AOY champ Taylor Capilla (that makes 6 AOY's if anyone is counting) who fished for 10 keepers and a total weight of 12.67 pounds.
The day two big fish would go to Topper De La Rosa with another massive Naci spot at 1.68 pounds.
The BBQ Saturday evening was great, with appetizers, tri-tip, teriyaki chicken, garlic bread, chili, salad and desert. We had way too much food. Thanks to everyone who chipped in!
